History: The idea of Open Table came from discussions at First Congregational UCC Church and how they could continue to serve the community. In 2015 work began to develop Open Table as a community initiative with it's own board of directors. It is housed at Lowell First Congregational UCC but is a Lowell community initiative.
Theme: Everyone is welcome to come for a free healthy meal. “Our doors are open to those who are hungry, lonely, or busy.” There is no discrimination and it is a great opportunity to meet others in the community and have conversations.
Behind the Scenes: Open Table works with the Health Department for all of the necessary certificates needed to prepare and serve food. There are a number of individuals with ServSafe certification, trained in cooking, care, reheating, and safety of food.
Community Partners: Feeding America, Sage Meat, Heidi’s Farmstand, Flat River Outreach Ministries and many others
Your Experience: Wait staff during Open Table take orders, bring food and drinks, and make sure guests are comfortable and leave with a full stomach.
